More From The Wood Shop

This Memorial day weekend I spent some time in the shop…

I started to make two matching end tables to go on either side of the bed in my newly remodeled bedroom. You can see I got off to a good start yesterday. All mortise and tenon jointed… they are going to be cool.

The wood laying behind is the wood cut to make the second one, all notched out and ready to be put together.

Another Day, Another Sighting:

Today I was a able to get out and spread my wings a little. A little hot and hazy, but otherwise a day of excellent potential.

Then suddenly, from nowhere like a cold splash of water in the face there it was plain as day.

… ANOTHER MULLET.

Just sitting there in all its glory. I am amazed in this day, and after my last plea that this kind of hair travesty can still exist.

If everyone would just look to their neighbor, and help them, this kind of thing could be prevented.

Please people, we must all unite. Without this simple step I weep for the future of the human race.

You Can’t Have Everything *

*Unless its an everything bagel, then you can get one just about anytime you want for around a buck-twenty.

Before The Storm

Yesterday, at the park this dark ominous sky was chasing me down. I got about one mile away from the truck when it caught up to me. Tanner and I made a mad dash back to the truck, but too late. I was soaked to the bone. I mean even my drawers were wet.

I knew I should have left work early…

My truck is going to smell like wet dog for days.

This Week In Hell

Things have been difficult for me this week…

It started with a lost cell phone.

What you have to understand is that I am a bit obsessed with things going just the way I plan. Any deviation from the plan, and I have to get the plan back on track or… well things just don’t happen otherwise.

So when I was just about to leave the house, and discovered my cell missing… what ensued was a 3 hour cell phone scavenger hunt that completely changed the plans for me and others the rest of the day.

People I was supposed to fly, had to drive.

People I was supposed to meet with, went without.

My schedule for the first three days of the week… all changed.

Basically utter chaos for one small cell phone, that I found by the way (do not ask where).

So here is my question to all of you out there:

Am I crazy?

Do I need help?

Is it cell phone dependency at its worst?

Is there any hope for me?

I might just have to go back to two cell phones… that Heilo is sure looking nice.

The “Little” O- Opera Mini for Mobile users

I have heard about this for a while, but have never seen it in action. A couple of days ago I was only Sony Ericsson web page noticed it was available for free download so I did.

Lets face it, web browsing on a phone us usually less than satisfying experience. Not with Opera! I was able to load pages, quickly, and it rendered everything on the page! Even crazy photo-centric pages like this Blog! I don’t know how it works but with some combination of techno compression magic it worked so well I had trouble putting it down.

This and my new unlimited data package from my phone carrier = match made in heaven.

If it is available for your phone service I highly recommend getting it.

Mac Book

Ok I am a PC guy from way way way back. (my first laptop had a black and white display... for realz)

But this new Apple Mac Book is making me take a second look.

I don’t know if its those cool commercials or the sleek lines that apple is famous for but I am seriously considering the switch.

I don’t feel I am quite conceded enough quite yet to be an Apple owner that is. Reasonable price? That is usually not Apples style, but looks like they might, just might, change my mind. I am going to wait a while to see how the temperature issue pans out, but after that? Well we will just have to see wont we. I will let you know.

Rain

I am not one to Bitch. Who am I kidding, I am totally one to bitch non-stop.

It has rained here 7 days straight, with several more on the forecast.

I am getting webbed feet people.

Come on now, my dog started quacking several days ago.

I stopped showering; I just carry soap with me when I go to and from my car.

A fish just swam past my office window.

Last night, someone was in my neighborhood selling ark’s door to door.

I don’t have to get the paper off the lawn, I just wait for the tide to come in.

I am going to have to mow the lawn soon with a wet suit and a sickle.

I stopped growing grass, changing over to rice.

I no longer have a sun roof, I have an escape hatch when I become totally submerged.

Get the idea?

Extreme Water Sports

Here is something I found for those of you that like to live dangerously … something that combines tubing and flying … the Wego Kite Tube.

That’s right, not only turn yourself into a ballistic chiropractors dream by tubing, once you hit 17-20 mph, you become airborn. Now you are a brains surgeons dream as water feels like cement at 20 feet going 20 mph.

Here is my question: How does it handle on the hairpin turn, and how you land the damn thing.

You can find this thing here.

Back to the Present

Today Chris R brought his Delorean in to the office for this photo-op.

I was surprised to see that the car was actually smaller than I remembered in the movie. I guess it was because Michael J Fox is shorter than Chris.

Where is my Flux Capacitor When I need it.

Cool Gear- Omega De Ville Co-axial Rattrapante

I have been pining over this watch for some time now.

Omega, arguably one of the finest watch makers on the planet, have crafted this fine time piece from one sold chunk of AWESOME, gilded with a heavy layer of STYLE topped off with just the right amount of WOW.

I don’t even want to talk a bout the diamond and platinum version, as it bring me to tears.

I can not tell you how much I want this watch, as you would think I am stilly and obsessed. I can tell you, however, that while some of the Omega fair would be within my price range this fine specimen is just a little to steep for me.

I am the king of justification but this one is a hard pill to swallow.

Maybe someday… but for now I will be content with my Seamaster GMT.

Mullet Mountian

Recently It has been brought to my attention that in this day and age, there are still people running around with a mullet. These photos, taken discretely Sunday in the wild, show in vivid clarity the hair horror that America still faces today.

That is why I have started the: Save the Haircut foundation.

Please give generously to the save the haircut foundation. For just .50 a day, less than a cup of coffee, you can prevent the kind of hair travesty that, although born in the 70’s still flourishes in the Midwest to this day. Your donation buys, a coupon for any of the 8 styles Supercuts has to offer. Transportation to and from the nearest Supercuts and in some extreme cases, hair counseling to educate the image challenged.

Along with your donation we will send you a picture of a person, like this one, and a hand written note of thanks describing how a decent haircut changed their life.

It is easy to ignore the mullet if you do not see them every day, but this is proof that here at home your money is still needed and can go a long way.

(PS. Sorry about the poor quality of photos, subjects in this extreme case of mullet denial may become aggressive and throw NASCAR paraphernalia at you so these were taken on the D/L. This picture shows an extreme mullet example, not all mullet’s are this horrifying.)

Pod Casting - On Demand Entertainment

One thing is for sure, Podcasting has sure come into its own. Its not just for geeks, and its surely not just of Ipod owners in-spite of what the name implies.

You can barley swing your headset w/o out hitting someone listening to or talking about a Podcast. Why so popular?

You can listen (and now view as in video or Vodcasting) on a variety of devices from your Ipod (of course) to your computer to your PSP. It can be done on your own time at your own pace.

You know how much we love that in this in demand world we live in.

But the number one reason: it costs almost nothing.

Very little to produce, almost always free to download, seemingly limitless content.. it sells itself.

Already I am seeing RSS (podcasting) feed compatible phones in the pipe.

Bottom line: Podcasting is here to stay.

Move over Amp’d: Hello Helio

New phone service and self-proclaimed hipster haven Helio has just launched. I had one of my famous rants all ready to go about this and what I expected and what I did not expect but instead I am just going to say this:

I hope it turns out to be better then the much touted AMPD.

You remember AMPD right? It’s the phone service reselling on the Verizon that I did rant about (here) with a similar business plan that lat time I heard was struggling to make ends meet and still losing money on their Itunes matching music downloads (according to mobilemag.com).

Whatever the outcome I am glad to see innovation in something as there seems to be a lack of that lately. If you call piggybacking on someone else’s network, and rolling out a business plan that is suspiciously similar to another recent struggling launch aimed at the same demographic with “few” phone to chose from INNOVATION.

Whatever the outcome I am glad to see activity out there. That is if you call acitvity.... wait i will just stop there. No ranting I promised.
