U-M Football

View this image online

Ahhhh.... College Football.

I was home today waiting for the game and the jets set to fly over the game were flying a holding pattern over Saline maybe in honor of our new quarterback. On the radio I listened to them right up to inbound flight leg "Rock 1 flight of four reporting inbound. ".  Of course it was cut off the tv boadcast to make room for commercials.

I love the smell of jet fuel in the morning, it smells like victory.

Toolmonger

Recently, I had the distinction of having one of my shop projects highlighted at Toolmonger.com.

I have been frequenting this site for a while and it was nice to have someone recognize my efforts, beyond my friends and family that is.

You can see the post here.

It has come to my attention that a certain enterprise network has adjusted its security settings to that some of my images are blocked. Not for content but just by way of there location in picassa, cookies and other inter-web do-dadels that well quite frankly give me a headache.

So until I come up with a workaround *some* of you will have to log on from home to get the full effect.

My apologies.

Go Blue

As we approach the end of summer… and its coming fast… we see the kids are going back to school the days are getting shorter and there is a certain feeling in the air.

No, its not the smell of burning leaves (not yet anyway) its College Football. Living in the shadow of the BIG HOUSE means you can almost feel a palpable presence edging ever closer as game days arrive… first home game 11/30 just a little over a week away.

This year I have again passed on season tickets to pursue my more ala-cart style game strategy, picking up a select few games, and one road trip to visit my friends in West Lafayette possibly.

The Stadium has been going under a transformation of sorts, and is supposed to be ready but not complete for the first game. Only time will tell but it looks to me like they have a long way to go to be ready for kickoff.

Before and After

Part of Barbs "Birthday weekend" was a new light fixture for the new dining room table ( I see a trend going on here) It does make a big difference and was well worth it. As she said it make the room better.

Kitty on the Prowl

While I was watching the Olympics , Kitty was busy sneaking up on me.

In this low light photo, hiding under the flap for my laptop bag with the zipper pull draped across her face, she is is almost invisible as she plans her attack against my shin.

2008 Olymipic Gold

Everybody is talking about the Olympics in Beijing, but something that caught my eye right away is the official timekeeper: Omega. With a long Olympic tradition (See my post here), Omega even built this “display” for the games.

Check this out from Luxist.com

Swiss watchmaker Omega is the official timekeeper of the Olympics and they have created the Omega Pavilion on the Olympic Green in Beijing for the Olympics. The Pavillion is 2,500 square meters (nearly 27,000 square feet) over two floors and includes a large exhibition area, boutique and a stage for special events. The opening ceremony for the pavilion on April 4 was attended by several hundred members of the international press and other invited guests and four Omega brand ambassadors, Olympic multiple gold medallists Ian Thorpe and Alexander Popov, speedskater Yang Yang, the first Chinese athlete to win a gold medal at a Winter Olympic Games and shooter Xu Mai Feng who was the first Chinese gold medallist at a Summer Olympic Games.

Omega has 450 professional timekeepers and data handlers in Beijing to time all 302 events in 28 sports at 37 different venues. The Swiss brand's 420 tons of equipment include the many scoreboards and display units used at the Olympic Games.Omega first served as Official Olympic Timekeeper at the Los Angeles 1932 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Omega has created limited edition Olympic versions of some of their most popular watch styles such as the DeVille, some of the collection is shown in the gallery below.

Shop Update- Payoff

Sometimes it seems like a shop project takes forever. Sometimes they go quick. Usually it’s the former. As was the case of the tall dresser project. It really has been done for a short time now, but I took getting it into a room where it worked perfectly, that they payoff was really truly appreciated.

Much better than a piece we would have purchased for this space.

Speaking of Weather

Speaking of weather a freakishly fast moving storm swooped in and dropped enough small hail to make it look like it snowed…. and to soak Tanner and I to the bone.

Here is a shot of the front yard and a bonus shot of Barbs car with some hail you don’t get to see that often.

Apple Crap

A friend of mine in California told asked me the other day to message him a photo. I explained that my state of the art iPhone wiz-bang-gizmo of the year can’t handle the task.

“What kind of crap is that?” He asked.

“Apple Crap” I explained.

Its true, I can bring up a satellite image of your home, but I cant sent an MMS to save my life.

Click on the image to the (up and to the) left to read the comic and see what the world really is beginning to realize about Steve Jobs (and Apple).
