Somtimes it pays to be handy
We had seen this poster, on canvas, for $179 (on sale) from a local home goods store going out of business. Also online for about $194 on canvas. Barb really liked it, but it seem silly to spend that much on what I could tell was a poster.
So I decided we could re-create it... and we did.
Blank stretched canvas on frame: $7.50 X 5 = $37.50 (min order was 5)
Paint to match the walls, left over: *free*
Spray adhesive: : $7.89
Spray polyurethane: :$ 8.00
poster: :35.00
total: $88.00
and we had 4 left over canvas to do what ever we want with....
Not to shabby.
Update: later we found it for $129 further marked down, still feeling pretty good about our deal.

The Story Goes
The story goes like this.
Man goes fishing. Man drops iPhone in river. Man makes fly from resulting carnage.
Marring tech and fishing in a way you would not expect. Priceless.
Thanks to gizmodo for this one.
Back to Work
Ok , I am back to work.
So it could have been worse. My office could have looked like this when I got back. Actually that is pretty funny.
Instead I was just buried in maelstrom of email and paperwork, backed up phone calls and more. It made me wonder… What has the world come to when you take a couple days off and you come back to a mess it makes you almost not want to take time off.
ALMOST.

Big Cat
Ok we are way up here in the middle of nowhere. This morning we got up
and found this print in the sandy driveway outside the cabin. From the
size and shape, Likely cougar. Yikes.
Hiawatha national forest has at lest one big cat around.
Update:
There seems to be some debate as to if this is a canine (IE Wolf) and or feline (cougar) print and to that I say... whatever it was it was a monster the likes of I would not like to run into and in was obviously 50 yards away from where we were sleeping.
I found an identification page that seemed to be inconclusive, it does have some characteristics of the feline print: larger heal pad, slightly more round that oval, if you draw line between the toes the lines cross inside the heal pad... but some canine characteristics like: can see the claws that usually you do not on a cat unless its running, the more symmetrical toes... honestly I am not sure. All I really know is it was BIG.
Any way I did some checking and found this article *HERE* and we were in the middle of the woods not far from there. So I know here have been some big cats in the area. Every year up there we see something crazy. This year was no excetpion.

Treat
Tonight for a special B-day treat I was blessed with dinner at the Chop House Ann Arbor.
Honestly it was awesome, but like most things that intense it's nice to take in small doses and it's not for every day although I could likely get used to eating Kobe beef. . It was really great and the company could not have been better.

Apple Stuff- New announcements
Today Apple had a bevy of new iPods announced, firmware upgrades and more. Just a reminder that every thing you own that has an apple logo on it is outdated and you must run out and buy the new version because an apple gadget douche is better than, last months apple gadget douche.
I can say these things as I am currently sporting first gen iPhone.
Thanks to Comedy Central for gelling into one concise video.

Cool Gear - Crow Foot Wrench
Face it I use a lot of tools. I have a lot of tools and I could say that I live by the adage: Right tool for right job.
But for the life of me I could not ever figure out a good use for a crow foot wrench. That was until today. I had to put a faucet in and the small crevice that you have to work with between the cabinet and the sink leaves to little room to turn a normal wrench but this baby slipped right in there and did the job.
It almost made crawling around on my back for a ½ hour worth it.

MGOBLUE
Don’t forget that today at noon
Not only because (as someone had pointed out to me recently) we dropped our season opener for the second year in a row but the moral of the players on the relatively young team demands it Not to mention we are not accustomed to loosing here at the Big House
GO BLUE.
Good Morning
September is a special month for me for several reasons. One thing is we are blessed enough to live within walking distance of the Local Farmers Market At the market, just like a refection of the weather, you can still see summer flowers and produce but you start to see the fallish items trickle in… gourds and pumpkins and the like. Better yet, actual farmers, selling there actual produce and local bakers, beekeepers and more.
Today we got up early before I went into the office walked with the dog down and bought some fresh produce and some flowers. Things I will be missing in just a few short months as the market is only open through October.

Winters Comming
Sure living in a “Northern” state its only inevitable that winter is coming and snow will be part of the deal.
Some of you are not so unfamiliar with snow chains the standard for extra tire gription for over 100 years. Now, finally, we have an alternative.
These Snobootz found *here* bring the technology into this century. Supposedly this was tested in the U.P. of
Just a reminder that the cold will be here before you know it.
