Woodshop: last minute projects.
Oh yeah that thing I was forgetting... that was the holidays.
Now its all a mad rush to get things done before the 25th so I might actually enjoy some of it.
That means last minute projects in the shop have to be done as well. Here we see some solid walnut pieces that will hopefully be something soon.
Very soon.

I feel like...
I feel like there is something I am forgetting about. Something important, some date or important event that will be happening soon... something I should be getting ready for.
Something that is right around the corner that should be taking my focus. Something that will require my attention.
Oh well I am sure when things slow down it will come to me.

The Girls ...
Joe and Kathy's party proved to be fun last night and my brother, being the good sport that he is. proved he could be one of the girls by dressing up as a girl super hero.
Totally hilarious and slightly disturbing all at once.

Happy B Day Sweetie....
Today may have started out rough but it ended well. It was the Girls B day and we had a good dinner with the kids and opened some presents.
Here she is reacting to her new candle holder. She must have thought I forgot she looked at this once. I think she was glad I remembered. Happy B Day Sweetie.

Mexico's new cultural ambassador....
Mexico's new cultural ambassador.... seems to be getting into the whole Cino de Mayo spirit.
When cornered for a comment BA had this to say:
FOOL! OF COURSE 1980'S TV STARS ARE STILL RELEVANT! FOOL!

Happy St Patrick's Day :
The not drinking for lent thing always comes to a head today (no pun intended) the one day that rampant drinking is tolorated to the point it is almost encouraged.
This year maybe more than others a nice pint of Guinness sounds really good.
Oh well. Lent will be over soon.
Happy St Patrick's day everyone.

Post Valentines Days Lunch Review: The Gandy Dancer
Since my Valentine had the day off yesterday, we met for a nice lunch instead of fighting the dinner crowds at one of Ann Arbor often overlooked but definitely most interesting restaurants : The Gandy Dancer.Sure it was a bit of a splurge.... but lunch menu is usually a little better on the wallet then dinner, and there is no exception here.
I will not deny that the company of my love was influencing my mood, the atmosphere was amazing the that was nothing compared the food.

We had the Dynamite Scallops - Crab encrusted with basil drizzled cream sauce (served over sea shells- amazing presentation) . She had the lobster bisque and a salad and I had the lunch special London broil. All of it was amazing.
It was a long, leisurely lunch, and sitting in the old train station watching the train go by with the Girl was a perfect way to get away... if only for an hour.
If your ever in Ann Arbor I would recommend you try this place.

Tonight A Waxing Moon...

Tonight A Waxing Moon...peaks out from behind the clouds like an ominous sign.
Somewhere in the cold and dark wood lined trails along the rivers edge an extra shiver ran up my spine and Tanner and I both suddenly stopped in our tracks.
I think it was the simultaneous realization that something was off. The crisp air burned in my nose as I slowed my breath for a listen and I watched her ears twitch with strain in concentration. We shared a moment listening to the frozen silence for some sign of what was amiss. I single twig snapped in the distance... then nothing.
Suddenly it hit me.
That was it!
All of my hair stood up on end as I realized...
The holidays are only a week away.
The horror.

Thanksgiving:
Sure everything did not exactly go as planned. In the end, It was a great Thanksgiving.
Everyone was fed (we had two huge meals actually). The food was really excellent. All in all I would have to say despite some timing issues with our meal, things went really really well.
We have a lot to be thankful for this year, and more than ever I am beginning to not sweat the small stuff and remember how good we have it.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

How I lost a day this week....

........and other signs I am not ready for the Holidays.
Honestly, I actually woke up this morning thinking it was Tuesday. I drove to work, listened to the radio thinking the announcer made a mistake when he said the Lions pay tomorrow.
Even though if I think really hard I can remember things from Tuesday... The dry cleaner, appointments I had. Honestly I have to concentrate on the fact or my mind reverts back Its really weird its like mind is just rejecting it.
Its all very groundhogs day-ish.
It must be that I am just not ready...
